The payment was made to the estate of Burrill Griggs, who ran the trading post on the south fork of the Catawba, located in Anson County at the time.It was a bond, not a land purchase.
The inventory of the estate, dated Oct 1756, reads "James McFee's bond, 13 pound 15 shillings paid in Va currency".
Also on the same inventory "Will'm Green's note seven pounds 5 shillings, 2 pence, Va currency".This is likely the father or older brother of Joseph Green.
There are a number of notes - some paid in Va currency, some paid in proclamation money, but James McAfee's is the only bond.
