Hello, Mark!

It was so good to hear from you and to learn that you already know of this particular William "Bill" McAfee! He certain was an active person....and so skilled! I have noted that, collectively, McAfees' can be very focused and exacting in their observations and thinking.

In talking with some of the family of William "Bill" McAfee, I was told that there actually exists pictures of this William "Bill" McAfee with Babe Ruth! Oh, my goodness! Imagine how this makes baseball history come alive for all McAfees' who are related to William!

Such a family historical story can be so encouraging to our younger McAfee generations, and especially when children go through their particular stage of development when they collect baseball cards!

My, just think re history and how it has touched our family at-large...there was Capt. William Twitty, Daniel Boone, the long generational history of the McAfees' who have served in the various state legislatures, Major Baseball player William McAfee and Babe Ruth...such makes history come alive for everyone, but particularily for our young McAfees'. Indeed, it motivates them to be outward thinking and to know that they, too, can become skilled with their choices in life and leave footsteps behind for others to they walk through life.

I did find some later pictures of William and it seems that as he aged, William looked more as the McAfee gentlemen of the family at-large....particularily the gentlemen of the early lines of Robert McAfee and Anne Green, and James McAfee and Mary McEntire Green McAfee. The gentlemen of these two brothers have facial structures so alike that I was literally stunned when I began comparing the photos of the two lines of these two brothers! One or two were exact "twins" to my own deceased father!

I have not compared in such detail the line of William McAfee, the NC Hunter, but the few photos I have seen of the collective lines, I can see the McAfee physical characteristics. One re-occuring characteristic which I find with all the early McAfee lines and their legacies is that the McAfee gentlemen were so extremely mannerly and gentle of nature. I hear that over and over from all of the three lines of the early brothers, William, the NC Hunter, James Jr. and Robert.

As to your Alexander line, do you know whether you are kin to the early Alexander line out of the same old area of NC as the McAfees'? Have you done any research of these early Alexanders' I cannot help but wonder about this!

Again, it was wonderful to hear from you and to know that you are actively pursuing genealogical research efforts! Note: I did go to the Scottish Gathering at Blairsville, GA last month and it was so interesting. The affair was held at a huge park area with the clan tents lining a creek and under HUGE trees! A number of McAfees' attended but they were there at different times of the day; I noted that there were some McAfees' from Lawranceville which were probably your line or my line! The Blairsville area is the highest point in GA as I understand it, and it was like being in the tallest of the French Alps.... as I departed and drove a bit into NC mountains before returning to Alabama. Somehow I got on a two lane highway in the huge mountains and that highway was full of S turns with a huge river flowing all along the two lane roadway. There were folks with all kinds of water craft enjoying the rapids, etc.....what a recreational area! I must return to this great beauty!
