"Morgan Town" or Morganton District was the Old Counties
of Burke Lincoln-Rutherford--BURK: which was the Seat...before they were divided into 2 or 3 more other Counties each (making them more like 30 miles average across. It stretched then from Ashville to Statesville,approx. 100 miles; Or from I-26 to I-77,it included most of the mid portion of the state or generally from the Broad River to the Yadkin-Pee-Dee...All to the west was Cherokee teritory. I rather think this Jury requirement
was 50 miles the distance a man could travel in a day,
making it his round trip distance (100mi)...the distance
to the SC line (in dispute)is 50 mi. being the Tryon, Kings Mtn, Cowpens distance....which we know was one of Jame`s many land holdings...
