I, too, am a descendant of Hugh McVay and Martha McAdory but have not been able to verify any information on Martha's parents/family. I found some 1988 correspondence in my mother's files in which a distant cousin cited the will of William Wright naming Mary McAdory as his daughter. She found it in Implied Marriages in Probate Records of York Co, SC. Does this mesh with anything you have found? Also, I am trying to find a documented link to the McVay line of North Farnham Parish in Richmond, VA. I have documents to John b. c 1766 but can not make the final connection although I believe it might be David, son of Hugh (b c 1713) and Ruth Manning.
