Samuel G McAdams was fifty-one when he died on 9 Dec 1864. He was buried in Smith Grove Cemetery, Greenville, Bond Co, IL. His headstone was inscribed:
S G McAdams - Capt 22 Ill Inf
Samuel G McAdams' will was recorded in Bond Co, IL Will Book B (1867) Pg 217 and listed his wife Sarah McAdams and son James M McAdams as executors. Other heirs were son John T McAdams and daughter Priscilla J McAdams. His estate included 160 acres in SE 1/4, Sec 20N, Twn 5.
Samuel’s widow, Sally Boothe McAdams (1824-aft1882) lived for quite a few more years. In the 1880 census, she was listed as age 56 and living with her daughter Priscilla J McAdams Fox and son-in-law Albert C Fox. Sally Boothe McAdams was also mentioned in the obituary of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Susan M McAdams Kelso, who died 17 May 1882.
