Hello John:
I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,700,000 surviving rcds for abt 70% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.
Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 30%.
Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.
Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome).
For Mary McAdam B 1902 (exact) ditto, I found 0 rcds. Note - church rcds for Co. Tyrone mostly stop in 1900. The stop date for civil rcds is unknown, but it is 1900 in some other counties.
For William George McAdam B 1899 (exact), Co. Tyrone with a father forenamed Joseph, I found 1 rcd, Fintona RD.
For Jos(eph) McAdam B 1897 ditto, I found 1 rcd in Errigal Kieran RC parish, Co. Tyrone. This rcd is somewhat suspect as it infers a conversion to RC.
For Ann(ie) Elizabeth McAdam B 1892 ditto, I found 1 rcd, Fintona RD.
For Marg(aret) McAdam B 1889 +/- 2 yrs ditto, I found 0 rcds.
For Sarah Jane McAdam B 1895 (exact) ditto, I found 1 rcd, Fintona RD.
For Jos(eph) McAdam M 1888 (exact), Ballynahatty PR, Co. Tyrone, I found 1 rcd.
For Mary Giboney M ditto, I found a rcd for a Mary Lizzie Giboney. This is a match. A view of the detailed M rcds SHOULD reveal their parents' names as well as other info.
For Jos(eph) B 1860 +/- 1 yr somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 1 rcd in 1860, Co. Down. Since this doesn't match your Co. Cavan criteria, it isn't likely for your ancestor. Note - early rcds for protestants are notoriously sparse and slipshod.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
