Thanks so much for your reply! I have found several US documents for him:

* WWI Draft Card
* Honorable Discharge documents and some other documents related to his service
* Marriage documents (2)
* Religion was "Orthodox", he was married by a Greek Orthodox priest, I'm not sure if he converted to Roman Catholcism before he died in 1924.
* I don't have a copy, but his death certificate lists his name as Masura.

In all cases his last name is spelled Masura.

What is a "manifest"? If you're referring to a ship's manifest, so far I haven't been able to find him on any ships.

Sadly, Walter did not live long enough to obtain a SSI. He died in 1924 from an illness.
