What sort of US document were you able to locate on your ancestor Walter MASURA?
Was he naturalized citizen? Did he have to fill out a Draft Registration Form? Did he have social security numbers? http://ssdi.rootsweb.com What religion was he?
Do you have his manifest? If yes, than it would show his name/surname as he was known in "old country".
