I'm researching the ancestry of Charles Thomas Maze,b: 1886 in Missouri. D: 1963 in Stanislaus,Calif. Parents were, William Jackson Maze and Anna Gaskill. I have quite a bit of information on them but, Charley told me when he was alive that the Maze name had been changed over the years but he didn't know what the original name Maze had been called or how it was spelled. But it was something like, Mazarin and that possibly the family came from France. He also told me that his Maze family were related to Francis Marion, the swamp fox, the Marion family came from France. Does anyone know of the Maze connection to the Marion surname? I've found a William Jackson Maze whose parents were William Maze and Susan Darnell/Darnall. Susan Darnell's mother's maiden name was Marion. But I've also been told William Jackson's father was David Maze. When he told me this information, Charley Maze seemed to know what he was talking about.
