I am trying to find anybody who has an inkling of information about Paul Alexander Mays (also written in public records and my family as Mayes). He seems to have had two or more sons, of which only one I am sure: Perry Wright Mayes and Earnest Mayes. The family was located for some decadse at least in Missouri. Mainly in Pocohantas, Ripley, Doniphan and Cape Girardeau (some of these may be county names).
Paul Alexander's wife was Elizabeth Wright.
Perry Wright's 1st wife was Sarah Valentine Davis, second wife was Sarah Ella Barker. Perry could have been born in Illinois or Arkansas--even family records and verified public records disagree. This is not unusual, perhaps, for somebody of Cherokee heritage. Perry came out to Oregon during the last half of his life where opportunies were better and he was supposedly more able to fit in without suspicion of his background. He had 2 children with Sarah Valentine Davis, and 5 with Sarah Ella Barker. Part of the first wife's family now lives in Kentucky. Most of the second wife's family still lives in the Pacific Northwestern USA.
