Magdalene Mays b. 1799
married Jeremiah Heller
taken from book written about the Hellers by Kerry Klinefelter
"At some point between 1823 and 1830, Jeremiah Heller (Jr.) moved his family to
Redbank Township, Armstrong County Pennsylvania. This location was near the
present Clarion County line.Jeremiah's brother William and his family
probably accompanied Jeremiah to this new location.William apparently
moved from Redbank Township sometime between 1840 and 1844, exactly where is
unknown. There is a possibility that (2) brothers of Magdalene also moved
at the same time because a Jacob Mace and a Jonathan Maise appear living
very near the Heller family, according to the 1830 and 1840 census. The
Bittenbenders, Minnichs & Balliet familys, also from Sugarloaf, lived not
far from the Hellers in Armstrong County. It is most probable these
familys all moved at the same time. One possible explanation for such a
move is the lack of funds to buy land in Sugarloaf. In the mid to late
1820s many of the German "squatters" were forced to move because people were
purchasing the land they had settled upon.Armstrong County at this time
was largely unsettled and the poor Germans from Sugarloaf could again settle
on unoccupied land. The Hellers apparently lived on the same plot of land
in Armstrong, and later Clarion County, the rest of their lives.
At some point between the summer of 1814 and the summer of 1815, Jeremiah (Jr.)
evidently moved with his father and brothers to Sugarloaf. Our subject
married Magdalene Mace, or as the name was sometimes spelled, Maise, shortly
after moving to Sugarloaf.According to the pension applications filed by
her in order to obtain funds against his military service, they were married
in Sugarloaf by Valentine Seiwell in March of 1814.Magdalene may have been
the daughter of Jacob Mace, one of the original settlers of the Sugarloaf
Valley. She also stated in her application that she was born in 1799.
Magdalene or "Molly" as she was known by her neighbors filed several
applications for pension funds throughout her lifetime. However, she was
always denied a pension, probably because she could not prove her marriage,
due to the loss of her marriage certificate."
Jeremiah and Magdalene were in Red Bank Twp., Armstrong Co., Pa. 1830 and 1840. In Clarion Co., Pa., 1850. I don't believe they actually moved, but the boundary lines changed between Armstrong and Clarion.

Mary Mays b. 1815
married George Polliard
message found from a Tom Chapman Wed, 20 Mar 2002
From:"Tom"
"Looking for the family of Mary Mays, born about 1811.She married George Balliet/Polliard about 1830/35.In Porter Twp. history, it says George Polliard "came to Mays Farm near Rockville in 1835" - meaning that he was among the latter wave of settlers in Porter. But he didn't come far since his family was nearby in Red Bank.I don't know if Mary Mays name has any connection to Mays Farm (whatever that is), but it seems likely. There is a prominent Mays family in Venango and Ashland Twps. -- Thomas W. Mays, but the only likely "Mary" seems to have married a "Skank" man.Any help from you Clarionites would be appreciated."
George Polliard was born 1810 in Luzerne Co., Pa.
George and Mary were in Porter Twp. Clarion Co., Pa 1850 census.
Solomon S. Mays, son of Andrew Mays, had a daughter Mary Elizabeth Mays who married John Calvin Polliard, John is son of Mary and George Polliard.

"In 1838 a school-house was erected by public expense, by John Shaw, sr.,
at a point on the Penfield road just opposite where Mr. Eli Carrick now resides.
This school was widely and familiarly known as the “Tom Hainey school.”
The first teacher was Miss Julia Ann Holly, who taught in the summer of 1838.
