This is what I have on the James Mayo & Jane Garrett family:

Descendants of James Mayo

1-James Mayo, son of Williamson Mayo and Hannah Phillips, was born in 1780 in Patrick County Virginia, died in 1837 in Vermilion County, Indiana at age 57, and was buried in 1837 in Hillsdale, Vermillion County, Indiana.

General Notes: James' death is often given as Crawford, and was so in the Virginia Genealogist article of 1963, but he was buried in Vermilion County, Indiana, according to his daughter. His family (and chilren) is fairly well documented, and it seems certain that he is not the father of my Mayo line - Susannah, Elizabeth, Rachel,
Sarah & Valentine W.

In the move to Ohio she rode behind her uncle Isom Garrett. While the family lived in Indiana her father died on March 13, 1827, leaving the mother with 9 children. when age 20 years she moved to Cherry Gove, now Saluda, Knox County Illinois. she attended golden wedding anniversary of her childhood friend in Hillsboro, Indiana, and while there she visited the cemetery in which her father had been laid to
rest.
