This post is in interest of a question I saw at another site: If William Spicer was an ancestor of mine and I was stuck trying to trace him, I would probably research William Spicer to find what area he comes from and what Mayo family was nearby. I have a fealing he is related to Arthur Spicer who was credited for receiving land for recruiting to the Va. colony. Valentine May (Mayo ?) was one of those. William Clapham was one who recruited Aurther Spicer and both were associated with John Mayo or Valentine Mayo in Rappahannock County. All on the South side of Rappahannock County that became Essex then split to the counties that our Valentine Mayo was from.
