Name of a third-century bishop of Carthage who was a leading figure in the history of the Western Church. [3] From the Roman family name Cyprianus which meant "from Cyprus" in Latin. Saint Cyprian was a 3rd-century bishop of Carthage and a martyr under the emperor Valerian. Cyprian Mayo was the fourth son of Joseph Mayo and and Mary Shepard. joseph was a Quaker. Joseph's father and mother were Edward jr. (1672_ and Mary Clare. Edward Mayo Sr. (1648) married Sarah Maggs? Meggs? I would guess that the name is due to their afilliation with the church. as there are other names in that line that suggest that as well. Notify Administrator about this message?
