Hi Sandra

Your line of family is nothing much to do with mine, but I live near Axbridge and you might find the following useful.

There are lots of Main families in this area (but no Mayne except us, which causes confusion locally). Axbridge and Priddy are centres. Chew Stoke is a village near Bristol, not Cardiff, and is not that far from Axbridge and Priddy - moving between Axbridge and Chew Stoke would be expected, while Cardiff would have been difficult to get to in the 18th century.
