Not sure if this is the correct Margaret Maynard, but it might be somethng to check into.

There was a Simeon Mainard, b.abt 1819 KY, on the Wayne Co., VA census, post office Twelve Pole. His wife is a Lourana, age 40, b.VA. Simeon was in Dist 66, Wayne, Va in 1850. A couple of families before him in 1860 is a James, 22 b.VA and Araminta Mainard; while right after him is a George Mainard, 24, b.KY and wife Mary A., 20, b.VA. In 1860 Simeon is born KY, Lourana and 7 children b.VA. Also in the household is a Chany Mainard, 79 b.NC that is probably Simeon's mother. I don't remember just when WV was formed, but think it was after the 1860 census as it has the family located in VA both census'. It looks like the family went back to Lawrence Co., KY between 1862 & 1868 when the last child was born.

In 1870 this family is in Pct.7, Lawrence, KY. There is a Margaret age 8 in the household. The surname is spelled Maynard in 1870. This census shows the entire family b. KY.

Per some family files Simeon Maynard was born about 1819 in Floyd Co., KY and died 1888 Martin Co., KY. He married Lourana Spellman 5/11/1837 Lawrence Co., KY. Since Lawrence Co. is just across the state line from Wayne, WV, the family may have been moving back & forth. There is a Margaret, b.1862 VA/WV, attached to the files; and a couple have her married to Leonidas Williams. I do not locate Simeon and the family in 1880, could be they were relocating to Martin Co. or were just missed when the census was taken.

Simeon Maynard's parents were probably James Maynard and Chaney Smith. I did not check that part out.

The Maynard surname may be spelled several different ways; Mainard, Miniard, Minyard, Maynard, Mynard, Menard are about the ones used most frequently. Sometimes one has to be a little creative in searching for that surname.

You did not ask for info on Leonidas Williams, and I found him to be almost as elusive as the Margaret. I see the family including Leonidas, age 8, in 1860; but if I am looking at the correct household in 1870 he is not included. His mother may have been deceased as his father is listed with son, Jeferson R., age 19; probable nephew George R.B., age 16; and a John B., age 2. Next door is a Mark Maynard who may be Margaret's uncle. There is a marriage record for a John H. Williams, b.1822, and a Orph J.Maynard(b.1835) 8/20/1874 Martin Co., KY. Not sure if this is the same John H. Leonidas is listed with in 1860 or not. Leonidas' parents could be John H. Williams and Jemima Brock/Bevins. There is a birth record for Leonida Williams 8/18/1852 Pike Co., KY with parents listed as John M. Williams and Jemima Brock. Most family files have the parents as John H. Williams and Jemima Bevins.(Family files are not always accurate).

At least one file on familysearch.org shows Margaret to perish in Lawrence Co., KY. I did not locate a marriage record for Margaret and Leonidas on ancestry.com; so I could not tell when they married. Leonidas may have been living with an older sister in 1870 and was listed with his brother-in-law's name; or living with another family. The couple could have been married by 1880 and just missed in the census. KY death records began in 1911, so it is probable that Margaret died before that year as I couldn't locate a record for her.

Hope this is of some help, and not too confusing.
