Maynard/Minyard Family
Posted by: Lawrence Maynard (ID *****0417) Date: March 15, 2012 at 06:48:24

In early 2012, a descendant of John Jackson Minyard of Tyler Co, TX had his DNA done and he matches exactly, on 37 markers, a descendant of Cornelius Maynard. For some time, it was believed that John Jackson descended from Thomas Maynard who was a brother to Cornelius. Since Cornelius and Thomas are sons of Nathaniel Maynard of Charles City County, Virginia, this DNA match tends to prove that this family of Minyards are actually Maynards. I see no need to change public records at this late date. I simply use Maynard/Minyard in my records.
