Gone to Her Reward
Mrs. Ann Maynard died at her home in Uppertown Thursday morning after an illness of two months though she had been in failing health for two years. “Grandma” Maynard, as she was familiarly called, exemplified throughout her long life of 82 years, all the virtues of Christian womanhood, and was a devoted wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor. She was a native of Cornwall, England, from whence she first came to Pennsylvania, but she has lived in Placerville and vicinity for forty-eight years. Her husband, Charles Maynard, died twenty-five years ago in the same little home on Spanish Ravine, where, on Thursday, she followed him into the Great Beyond.
She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Mrs. Mary J. White, and three sons, Richard, Charles, and Sam Maynard, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church of which Mrs. Maynard had been a member for twenty-four years. Rev. E. J. Bradner will officiate and the interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Maynard was a charter member of Leona Rebekah Lodge, No. 30, I. O. O. F., of this city, under whose auspices the funeral will take place.
