I don't know of any descendents of Robert Maynard either (though I know his family was 'supposed' to have resided somewhere in Virginia).I stopped researching the Maynard/Mainord families only because of the ultimate aggrevation of not knowing which William Maynard/Mainord (the Wilkes county, NC William or the Wake county William, NC fathered which children).
I do have the Will of the Wake County, NC William (where his name was spelled Mainord) and even that is a bit confusing.
I've heard of both Jacob and Gibson Maynard (they're mentioned a lot in the confusing research I found and also mentioned at this site about the Old Roaring River Baptist Church in Wilkes County (http://www.fmoran.com/wilkes/roaring.html).Seems Gibson made the church pretty mad on some occasions (though by reading all the minutes...it was rare that the church was ever happy).
I don't know too much about William being Gibson's father. The person who transcribed the minutes on the page mentioned in the paragraph above was a Hal Maynard who says he is descended from Gibson Maynard and his wife Sarah).
I've heard of a George Maynard (the one mentioned as their probable brother) and also a George Mainord (who was my g-g-g-g-grandfather...but George Maynard & George Mainord were two different people).
I'm currently searching for my Mecklenburg, NC links these days (with my Alexander family).
Thanks,
Scott Alexander
