Barbara,
My Great grandfather was James Henry MAYNARD (or HENDERSON). I do not have a birthdate for him, but he died May 8, 1930 when my mother was 4 days old.I believe that he was also born in Durham, NC.I have applied to the NC archives for his death certificate to see if it might hold a little more information about him, but have not received it yet. He had at least one brother William or "Bill" and possibly a sister also (Lillian?). He married Martha Elizabeth BAILEY from Charlottesville, VA----can't seem to find anything on her either strangely enough although my mother seems to think her mother's name was TAYLOR. James and Martha had eight children---one was my grandfather, Charles Louis MAYNARD born June 11, 1899. My mother says it was always a big mystery growing up-- they were told not to ask questions-- not to speak of it even.(Whatever it was, they all managed to hide themselves pretty well!) Wish I had more information to give you but I wouldn't need help if I did I guess! There just HAS to be some connection I think between your Thalas and my James--how could the times be so right and the place so right? Any ideas on where we go from here? Laura
