I have been told that the Mainord/Maynard's came originally from a place called Mane in France then to Kent, England around 1066. Their battle cry was "Here come the Maner's" later resulting in the name Mainord. You asked for proof of the Mainord/Mainard spelling of the name---our line has always used that spelling and still do today.
My line is from :
William Mainord b. ca1740 NC or Eng. no proof
Silas Mainord b. 1788 NC
Louis C. Mainord b. 1826 NC or TN
Emmezelicia Mainord b. 1856 TN
Pearl Mainord b. 1883
Louisa Arney b. 1903
Me--Edna Daugherty b. 1933
Some of the younger generations in our line have gone to the Maynard spelling of the name, but the old-timers still cling to the Mainord spelling.
