I was born in Newport RI, but my earliest known Maynard ancestors don't come from there.I'm now living in Australia, does that mean I'm related to other Maynards here?
As much as I enjoy New England baked beans, I still advise Jessica to talk to her parents, grandparents and even a aunt or great aunt or two ... both for recipes and the possibility they know where their earliest known Maynards (and other ancestors) came from. Then maybe Jessica will discover her ethnic origins.
The majority of Maynards in Ohio may have come from New England, but there are a lot of exceptions these days with the mobility of populations that have taken place this last century.
It was only by reading my grandfather's story (who's grandfather Shadrack was born in eastern Tennessee) and now talking to long-lost cousins via the Net that I discovered my Maynard ancestors in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina.I didn't have a clue about that growing up because I was living elsewhere in the US (Colorado, Wisconsin, Arizona, Washington State).
Jessica's family may have lived in Ohio for several generations ... but then again ... perhaps not.Only her elders can set her straight, and the rest of us can assist further once we get some further clues.
Yummy, now for a bit of damper with my baked beans, chitlins, and apple pie.Crumpets anyone?
