Thank you for responding. I have 4 William Mayfields in my file, but not THAT ONE. All my Mayfields are in and around TN 1800 on. The families I am most focused on right now are Mayfields that married SIMONS, SIMMONS, SPARKMAN, MOORE, RUSSELL, DYER. Most are in the area of Van Buren, or Warren Co.TN.
Do you know anything of pre 1800 Mayfield/Simons families? Or where they came from to TN? Also, 'know anything about the Dyer/Russel/Mayfield connections in TN? Questions, questions! Well, you do have several hundred Mayfields. ..Your're the one to ask! Also, I am finding Cherokee ancestry in some of these Mayfields , can you add any comments to that? Were they Cherokee, or mixed ? I have some of my Simons at that time on Cherokee rolls via their marriages to Cherokee women. I found an Isaac Mayfield on a Cherokee roll with his family. (He is not in my direct line......think his wifes names was "Polly").
Anyway, any thoughts you have will be interesting. Where do you fit in on the Mayfield tree? Thanks, RoseMary
