Can anyone help me out?
I am looking for the family of Laura Mayes. Laura Mayes was born March 1, 1888 and died March 1969 in El Reno, Canadian County, Oklahoma.
She married Audra Allen in Canadian Texas, March, 14, 1910.
Audra Allen was the son of David Allen and Georgia Anne McKinley and the granson of Richmond Harrison Allen and Patsy Jane Wood.
She had a sister Myrtle Mayes born September 27, 1885 who married Harry Cavanaugh. She was Harry's second marriage. I believe they were married in Enid, Oklahoma.
She had a brother Melvin Mayes who was born about 1890. I believe he died about 1964.
She had a brother William Mayes born about 1895 who I believe died young. My grandmother said she went with her mother to his funeral when she was a young girl.
She had a sister Emma Mayes who married a man named (Jim ?)Lord.
She had a sister Jennie Mayes who her mother went to live with in Long Beach.
Their mother died about 1929 probably in Long Beach or that vicinity. My grandmother never saw her grandma Mayes again after she went to live with Jennie. My grandmother was the daughter of Laura Mayes and Audra Allen.
Another name mentioned by my grandmother is Bob Mayes I am unsure of his relation to Laura -- but he did visit the family. He was married briefly to a widow woman possibly named Iva.
Laura, Myrtle, and Emma all lived in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma for some of their lifetimes. I think before this they were all in Kansas and Colorado.
Laura Mayes Allen lived briefly in New Mexico after her husband's death. She was very close to the Crist family and lived with them while she was there.
These are about the only clues I have.
Are these names familiar to anyone?!
