I've spent considerable time researching George Mayse Jr. Here's what I've found:

b. 26 Feb 1845 Bath Co., VA as recorded by his father. He, of course, was born the same day his mother died.
m. 29 Oct 1874 Monroe Co., MO to Emma J Pollard Found the the Misc Monroe Co., MO Marriage Records, Rootsweb.com
d. 20 Jan 1911 in Harris Co., TX 1903 - 1940 Texas Death Index

Tracing him was hard as the census had him a Gerge Mayse in 1880. The data on the census for him was correct so I knew I was on the right track. But MISSOURI??? why???

On the 1900 Ft. Bend Co., TX census, it lists his exact birthdate and all the other information fit him to a "T". He is listed as head of household and married, but there was no spouse. Emma, on the other had, was listed as head of household in Harris Co., TX, the adjacent county to Ft. Bend. Why they were living in separate households, I don't know. I do know George went home to die.

There was one child, Gertrude, born Aug 1877.
