Just a guess, but I think a pretty good one. Your Phoebe Mayes was probably the daughter of Ligon Mayes, son of Henry Mayes and Pheobe Harrell of Henry Co, Va., who moved to Grainger county TN and was married to Esther Daniel. Their daughter phebey was born in 1799 with other siblings Edward, Mary Polly and I believe but cannot yet be positive, another son, Ligan, my gggrandfather. My Ligan showed up in the 1850 IN Census as well, and perhaps moved from TN about the same time your Phoebe did, about 1840.
