Loretta, well, it looks like we could be related at a distant, that is.During the 1930's and 1840's Robert, Celia, John Sr., John Jr., Matthew Sr., Matthew Jr., and Squire Mayes lived in the Territory of Arkansas, Crawford County. They were from Kentucky. In my search after I found my Robert on the 1850 Shelby County, Texas census, I did not look for any other on that census. My Robert did have a son Matthew, who was three at this time and I know that he never married.Do you think that my Robert and your William Matthew Jr. are brothers, and that William MatthewSr. is the father? In 1860 my Robert is in Lavaca County, Texas, township Hallettsville.
I have a lot of questions and I'm sure you do too, if you feel that these Mayes' are related.
You can email me direct if you prefer at

I am anxious to here from you.
