Probably no connection... Though there could be some confusing of the two Georg Mayer's.

My ancestor is Georg Phillip Mayer, born 14 May 1812 in Diez, Hessen-Nassau, Germany. His father was Karl Mayer, and his mother was Maria Elisabeth Schmidt. Georg immigrated to the U.S. before 1860. His father Karl was here before 3 June 1840, when his wife's German burial record notes that he had gone ahead to America (apparently taking his youngest son, Frederick). The 3 Mayer's all appear in Kingston at the time of the 1860 U.S. Census.
