I am Duane Liddeke. I grew up at Norwich, KS. My father is Danny Lee Liddeke. My grandfather was Howard William Liddeke, son of William Liddeke, born 9-29-1877, son of Christian Liddeke b-day & b-place unknown but I assume it was in Germany.

Christian Liddeke married Elizabeth Platt Liddeke, b-day ? . Her birth place was Braunschueig Saxony, Germany according to what I put together for a High School genealogy assignment.

If only a person were as interested at 18 yrs of age in the wealth of info great aunts and uncles had, as we are when we have kids of our own, I would know a lot more. My grandmother, Leona Allender Liddeke is still alive. I will try to get more info from her.

William Liddeke married Myrtle Ida Reynolds b-day 9-13-1882. They had several children. Some names I remember are of course, my grandfather Howard, Marshall, Clayton, and Edna Liddeke Bush. Marshall is still alive. He is in a nursing home in Mt. Hope, KS. One of the brothers name was messed up by the military in WW II and that branch of the family now is spelled Liddekee. They live(d) mostly in Arkansas.

The Liddeke homestead, not in the Liddeke family at the time, was destroyed by a tornado, iirc, on Halloween night 1985. It was located 3 miles north, 1 mile east and about 1/2 mile north of Norwich, KS. I do not remember when the family sold it.

I was told that my grandfather, Howard, was in the wagon when it tipped over and killed Christian. I think they said he was just a toddler when it happened. I have also heard one of our ancestors was hung for being a horse thief. :)

Like I said, I will try to get more info from my grandmother. I wish had written more stuff down that Edna Liddeke Bush told me while she was still alive. She was a very sharp woman. I got most of my Liddeke info from her when she was alive.
