Hi Gene,

My mother's name is Mayer. Over the years it has been written Mayer, Maillé, Maillet, Maguet, Magee, Maguy etc. Our ancestor was Pierre Maguet from France.

My grand-mother was a Léonard.

Many french canadian emigrated to the States.
