The Nova Scotia Vital Statistic website is
www.novascotiagenealogy.ca

There is a marriage record there for a
Francis Willian Acker age 22, ( b.1888) years, bachelor, farmer
Residing in First South, fisherman
Son of Nathaniel and Eunice Acker

Married by License in Lunenburg August 24, 1910 to:

Ellen May Acker, age 18 (b.1892) spinster of First South
Dau. of Cornelius and Druscilla Acker

The 1901 and 1911 Canadian Census can be viewed at
www.automatedgenealogy.com

In the 1901 Census you can find the two families

Nathaniel Acker born July 6, 1864 and his wife Unus (Eunice) born Jan 15, 1866
With children Frank, Charles, Absolam and Bessie

Cornelius Acker born Dec. 1848 and his wife Drucilla born 1855 with their children Elizer and Ellen

The 1881 Canadian Census is available at
www.familysearch.org

A compilation of Lunenburg County Birth, Marriage and Death records from various sources can be found at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~canns/lunenburg/index.html

There is a lot of information on the Ackers there such as:

"ACKER","James Nathaniel","B","1863-07-06","chr. 1863-08-02","LL","Jacob & Sarah Eliz",,
"ACKER","James Nathaniel","M","1888 Bef",,,"Eunice Adele Koch",,

"ACKER","Cornelius","B","1847-02-09","1847-05-16","ZLL","John & Sophia",,"Geo Acker & wife, Anna Christina"
"ACKER","Cornelius","M","1875 Bef",,,"Anna Drusilla Knickel",,

LL stands for Lunenburg Lutheran Church. ZLL is Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg.

Also note that a lot of these Germans went by their middle name. For instance in the “Parents Database” found on the above Lunenburg County site there are three children recorded to Cornelius and Drucilla, then a bit below (because the fathers’ names are in alphabetical order) your Ellen May is recorded as born to John Cornelius and Anna Drucilla Acker.

Another site that is essential to researching these early German settlers is
www.seawhy.com

Hope this helps. There is lots of information to research in the above sites. Have fun
Burdette
