Description: You are Bidding on a The Family Bible Of Thomasina Maxwell Allum. An Irish Bible Printed and sold by James Blow 1740 Belfast. James Blow is believed to be the person to publish a bible in Ireland. Which contains the Old Testiment and the new, Newly Translated out of the original tongues and with former translations. Appointed to be read in churches Dublin Printed by George Grierson and James Blow printers to the King Arms And Bibbles in Effex street 1740. The Maxwells inscribed the Bible Robert Maxwell & Ellen Hutton Married Aprill 25th 1745 James Maxwell Born march 15th 1746 Thomas Maxwell Born Dec 4th 1747 and so on…. 19th Century Scottish Housewife Brings Family To Life. Thomasina Maxwell Allum Born 1853 Kirkhill, Scotland. Her parents died at an early age and not much is known of her early years or her art back round. In 1876 She married Dr Charles Edward Allum well known published organist and choirmaster. The oil paintings of three of her children. 1879 Portrait of James C. E. Allum, 1881 Grace Ina Allum and 1887 George Frederick Allum we also have the sterling Scotish Agate rattle being held by young George. All of these painted with a Masters eye and skill for detail, light and shadow. At the turn of the century the family moved to Chicago where Dr Charles Edward Allum was the director of the Wheaton musical club and the director of the Gary Memorial chorus choir. The only painting we have that Ina Allum painted in the United States is a reverse painting on glass of her four children and husband fishing on a river. In addition to the fabulous art work is Her Family Bible dated 1741 printed and sold by James Blow, believed to be one of the first Bibles printed in Ireland. Ina Allums family also put together items that belonged to her. They put a shadow box containing 14k gold pin with pearl and carved shells, 14k gold perfume bottle, miniature Meissen hand painted pin, miniature needlepoint, A patch with the family crest and belt and buttons from her traditional dress.
