Agnes Maxwell of Barncleugh Irongray, Scotland
I have the genealogy (ancestry) of Agnes Johnstone Maxwell (Agnes Maxwell) was born About 1783, at Irongray Kirkcudbright, Scotland, daughter of Wellwood Johnstone Maxwell of Barncleugh and Catherine Maxwell. What I need to verify is whether she is "the daughter of Maxwell of Barcleugh" who married (c.1810) David Anderson, b. 1778, of Dumfries, and was the mother of Wellwood Maxwell Anderson (b. c. 1809, d. 1888 in Jamaica). Agnes had sisters Mary and Catherine who may also fit the details- making WMA an illegitimate son. Her brothers were John Herries Johnstone Maxwell of Munches, Wellwood Maxwell of the Grove, Alexander Maxwell of Glengaber, George Maxwell of Glenlee, William Maxwell a merchant in Liverpool.Did she have a younger sister named Margaret?Did she have a relationship with David Anderson, b. c. 1778?Is she the same Agnes Anderson shown on the 1851 Census Extract for Household No: 12/31 shows Agnes Anderson living in 10 English Street, Dumfries, as Head of the household? Other residents include Allans and Johnstons.
