James MAXWELL, (born 26 Feb.1772 -where?)married Sarah MOORE, ( born 4 Dec. 1768), in Blount Co., Tennessee 19 Aug. 1802. They migrated to Randolph County MO about 1835 and may have lived in Lincoln Co., TN before settling in MO. James MAXWELL died 23 March 1842 in Randolph Co. MO. Sarah Moore Maxwell died 25 June 1848.

John MAXWELL, son of James Maxwell,(born 23 June 1805). married Mary Ann. FOX on 1 June 1826. She was born 1 May 1802.John Maxwell was an original Land Purchaser in 1836 in Randolph Co., MO.Also, John MAXWELL is listed in the 1860 Mortality Schedule of neighboring Monroe County, MO. He died 16 August 1859. Mary Fox Maxwelldied 15 March 1868.Sally Maxwell, John’ssister anddaughter of James and Sarah Moore Maxwell, married G.W.WESTFALL 31 Oct. 1840.
John MAXWELL’s children:----Susan A. Maxwell married John E. H. Amick 1840s. Harriet E. Maxwell married C. J. S. (Jackson) Riley 1851. William J. Maxwell married Cornelia E. Austin 1859. Sarah M. Maxwell married Joseph W. Haynes 1857. H. F. Maxwell married Elizie Gregg 1866. Two of these Maxwell boys served in the 10th Missouri Infantry CSA, CompanyJ. F. Amick, husband of Susan A. Maxwell Amick, was also in the 10th MO Inf. or Marmaduke Camp # 685 of Moberly, MO.A. Sister Hortense Jennie Maxwell (my line) married Joseph BEATTY. Jennie Maxwell Beatty and brother Hugh Frank Maxwell moved to Livingston County, MO. By 1880 the Beattys moved to Travis County, TX where both are buried. Many of the Maxwells are buried in the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Randolph Co., MO
