Lynn,
I did not find anything yet from Cindy but did read your post regarding a Robert Maxwell circa 1860.
My great uncle, for whom I was named, is Robert Bruce Maxwell, son of Harlan Page. But he was born @1873, so again this may be a skipped generation between James and perhaps a James Jr., or another family altogether.
However, this Robert Maxwell was in John Phillip Sousa's military band and died on tour.My mother and her sister (and her husband) traveled from Takoma Park MD, where they lived, to Buffalo to retrieve the body and return him home.He is burried at Rock Creek Cemetary just outside of D.C. in a family plot.
I have the trumpet that he played, a most beautiful silver trumpet with elaborate etchings (made in London). The Sousa Museum has contacted me twice about it.
Come to think of it, my brother has his father's (Harlan Page Maxwell's) sword from the Civil War (as my family has always said:"Captains had swords").
regards again,
Bruce Adams
