Richard, My oldest proven relative is Andrew Maxwell, Sr. b. 1770 but I do not know where he was born or for sure who his father was, history has been passed to us that it was James Maxwell. In olden times they named their children after brothers and fathers and grandfathers. The names that Andrew used for his sons were Oldest was James then David then Andrew Jr.(my line) then Robert, Joseph,William. There is also a Calvin and Albert but I do not know where they fall in line as I have no dates of b. for them. The first 3 were born in SC.
Possible connection here for brothers since your James William was b. 1773. You know there are also the Pa. Maxwells that have Andrew, James,William, Robert, and Alexander for sons. The father was Albert and the Grandfather was Andrew but I have no concrete proof that I fit there but have always felt that I do. Somewhere there was a notation that the James (PA) located in SC. Possibly my Andrew's father. What do you think?
