Katherine MAXWELL & Samuel NICHOLS
Catharine MAXWELL, born about 1800.After the death of Samuel Nichols she married, second, probably Mr. AMA.She may be the mother of the William H. Nichols, Samuel N. Nichols, and J. W. Nichols enumerated with her in the 1850 Census of Spring Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.She married Samuel NICHOLS, born between 1800 and 1810, but the names of his parents and the place of his birth have yet to be discovered.In 1840 he was a resident of Hayfield Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, with his wife, four young sons, and one young daughter.In the same year he was taxed on 50 acres and one (1) cow.He died about 1847.In 1880 his son, John Wesley Nichols, said both of his parents were born in New York.In the same census, both parents of William Henry, eldest son of Samuel Nichols, are said to have been born in Connecticut.In 1900, John Wesley's father is said to have been born in Massachusetts and his mother in Rhode Island. In the same census, William Henry's parents were said to have been born in Connecticut.The date and place of his burial is unknown.No record of her second marriage or of the date and place of her death and burial have been found.Children of Samuel and Catharine (Maxwell) Nichols: William Henry, b.1828, Jeanette, b. 1830-1835; Mary Ann, b.1830-1835; Samuel, b. 1830-1835; d. young?; Simon, b. ca. 1838; Salvador, no further information; and John Wesley, b. 28 Jan. 1839.
