Further searches on this couple reveal that due to a discrepancy in ages when they married….threw me off .

I can find no sign on the old parish records for Janet Mather and due to ages etc… given on Census’ she was born between 1839 and 1842.

Robert Maxtone signed his name with an ‘E’ at the end but became Maxton in later birth certs and Census….IGI’s revealed that he was Christened Robert Maxton {with the e} on 13/2/1824 at Fowlis Wester…also on the 1881 Census he is now working as a Porter.

The age difference between them on their marriage cert was 11 years, but studying further certificates and Census reveals that there was between 16 and 18 years of Difference.

This has now revealed 3 children all born in Crieff, Perth

Catherine bn 10/9/1862
William bn 2/5/1864
Margaret bn 11/1/1867
