Turbefield Maxey, Turbefield Barnes, John Maxey Barnes
I am reading Ms. Clark's book, The Maxey's of Virginia.
My ggggrandfather was Turbefield Barnes, b abt 1750 in Buckingham
Co., Va., who married Agnew Fields.Turbefield's father, if
research is correct, was John Maxey Barnes, born in Va. and who
died around 1770 in Rowan Co., NC.John Maxey Barnes' father was
William Barnes, from Va., probably James City Co.William Barnes
married Susannah Maxey, who was the daughter of Edward Maxey, Sr.,
and wife Susannah (Susannah Maxey, wife of Wm Barnes, is on page
78 of the above-mentioned book.)
If I look in the book's index, I find a couple of Turbefield
Maxeys. The first Turbefield Maxey (b. abt 1775) in Prince
Edward Co., Va., married Mary ?Turbefield Maxey was the son
of William Maxey (1744-1824) and his first wife Elizabeth.
William Maxey in turn was the son of Sylvanus Maxey and wife
Mary Worley.Sylvanus died in Prince Edward Co., Va. abt 1770.

What is the origin of "Turbefield"?I have a John Maxey Barnes,
a Turbefield Barnes, a Susannah Maxey - and the Maxey's have one
or more Turbefield Maxey's, in addition to John Maxey's.

The dates and locations are too co-incidental to deny the
existence of someone whose surname was Turbefield - probably
on the Maxey side, and probably a female Maxey.

I have struck out with the Turbefields (and the various spellings),
Can anyone provide a lead?Thanks.
