Maxey Sr., of Buckingham Buckingham, Feb. 26 – Harry Cecil Maxey Sr., 77 of Buckingham passed away Monday, February 25, 2008 in Farmville. He was born June 19, 1930 In Buckingham, the son of the late William Jennings Maxey Sr and Mary Poe Maxey. He was the husband of Bettie Davis Maxey. Mr. Maxey served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for the Chicago Bridge and Iron Company. His work took him to many countries including, Curacao, Aruba, Italy, Thailand, Guam and Saudi Arabia. He also worked as a construction superintendent all up and down the east coast. Mr. Maxey was a member of St. Andrews Baptist Church; he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. He owned and operated Moon Field Farm in Buckingham. He is survived by his wife, his son, Harry C. Maxey Jr. and wife, Frankie of North Carolina; brothers Donald Maxey of Buckingham and Wesley Maxey of Richmond; sisters, Mary Frances Lindsay, Elizabeth Sullivan and Edith Thorne all of Richmond; grandchildren, Pamela Maxey Henshaw and husband, Keith of Farmville, Bettie Maxey Dunnavant and husband, J.W. of Louisa, Cynthia Maxey Bitrick and husband, Mike of Charlottesville and Harry C. Maxey, III of Buckingham and great-grandchildren, Brian Henshaw Jr., Scott and John Henshaw, Jimmy and Thomas Dunnavant, Victoria and Kaitlyn Bitrick, Harry Maxey IV, and Daiya and Jaile Maxey. He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond David Maxey and three sisters and three brothers. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in the Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Amelia. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
