Sorry, I have info on three John Edward Maxeys, but not your man.

I see from the Social Security death index that he got his card in New Mexico. In those days we all got our SS cards when we were sixteen, so he was in New Mexico in 1936. Maybe born there. Maybe there with his family looking for work. There were a lot of people moving around looking for work during the Depression.

I do have a John Edward Maxey of the right age (2/12/1886 - 5/28/1953) to be his father or uncle. He married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (maiden name unknown), b. 1886 and d. 2/7/1962. He was born and died in Collin County, Texas, but that doen't necessarily imply that he spent his whole life there.

This older John Edward had brothers James Barnabus "Barney", Roy R., Marshall D., Henry C., and Harvey B.. Also four sisters, but their children would presumably not have gone by the Maxey surname. If any of this helps you establish a link, then I can provide loads of ancestry info.
