I have John Maxedon information in Orange County, South Carolina records. From the Titus book I was able to get enough information to search in Union and Newberry Counties, North Carolina. Now trying to close the information gap and hopefully find other records.
I had an advantage as I have studied the Thomas Lloyd family for several years and had all this information at my disposal. I have a copy of the Stephen Lloyd - John Maxedon 1768 deed and know that the 200 acres deeded to John was part of a 700 acres land grant Stephen received. I also have a copy of the Thomas Lloyd 1792 will which mentions John Maxedon as a "son-in-law". There was no land involved in deed but that is another story.
I have a 1781 Orange County tax list which lists the Lloyd families and John maxedent among others.
My difficulty is the distance to Hillsborough, NC from Maryland. Would you check to see if you have information on the Tennessee newspaper article mentioning the marriage of Thomas Maxedon and Elizabeth Woody on Haugh (Haw) River. The Titus book left me hanging on this one and sure there is more information in article.
Need to know context of article. Would love to have a copy of document. I am trying to get other Maxedon descendants to search for some of the old records. If we pool our resources we can confirm everything.
I have found more in last two weeks on the Lloyd-Maxedon family connection than has been found to date.
Contact me directly and send a mailing address so we can share documents.
