Hi, I've only just read this message but a branch of my family were Mawsons, born in Otley, near Leeds in Yorkshire and emigrated to PA, USA.There were about four or five sons of Benjamin Mawson (1797) and Mary Mawson (nee Hollins).
The sons that emigrated were:
James (1822) and wife Grace (nee Fletcher) (1818)
Simeon (1826) and wife Mary (1838)
Children: Simeon Joseph born 1857 PA married Abigail Duffield
Reuben (1834) and wife Sarah
Children: Mary 1861 UK, William 1863 UK, Josephine 1865 UK, Benjamin Edwin 1866 UK, James 1868 PA, Arthur 1873 PA, Albert 1875 PA.
John (1836) and wife Ann
Children: Mary 1858 UK, Reuben 1860 UK, Alfred 1863 UK, John R 1868 PA, Jacob 1871 PA, Frank 1872 PA, Annie 1874 PA, Thomas 1879 PA, Jabez 1881 PA.
Joseph (1838) and wife Mary (died bef 1880), second wife Elizabeth born 1837 PA
Children: Mary A 1869 PA, Thomas 1873 PA, Jesse 1878 PA, Elizabeth 1880 PA.
Thomas (1846) and wife Mary
Children: George H 1869 PA, Frederick 1872 PA, Rachel 1876 PA, Frances E 1887 PA.
The brothers were nearly all cotton workers/weavers in Yorkshire and apparently did the same or similar work in USA.
