I have two John and Frances Mawson.
John Mawson m. Frances Oats - 7/10/1770
John Mawson m. Frances Oates - 17/10/1770
Also have;
John Mawson m. Elizabeth Oats - 7/10/1770
I'm for the first, I have visited their grave site in Owston. There is also the grave of their son John, who died 30/10/1819
I have a photo and have written down what was on the grave stone, I will email that to you. However, my lead as to the older John's father was:
Robert Mawson b. 26/01/1717 d. 28/02/1761
of Birstall W. Yorks. He married Sussanah Woodhead.
This could be wrong but he was the only one I could find who was the right time for John's birth.
My cousin sent a list of John's childrn, there were Christopher, ? George and of course John.Either we have two John and Frances Mawsons or there are many mistakes in the register. My cousin has been doing the extended families, I have been doing the father of the father etc. John would be my ggggg grandfather which makes his father the sma as the one you mentioned.
