The Flashman diary entry is too good to be true, and I fear you have fallen victim to an elaborate hoax in homage to George MacDonald Frasier's fictional creation Harry Flashman. You would need to be fans of this fiction as well as historians of the period to catch the deceit, but I'm afraid this is an example of caveat emptor. best wishes in your further family research.
