John Maus, German Immigrant, Civil War photo

To whom it may concern:
There is a wonderful Civil War photo of John Maus, in the November 2010 issue of Country Extra magazine. Caption reads, "My Grandfather, John Maus, was a German Immigrant, who earned $12, shoes and overalls during his first year farming, in Wisconsin" says Mary Lou Peterson of Davenport Iowa, " In 1861 he joined the Union Army and fought in battle"

I am no relation to this family, and though I subscribe, have no connection to this magazine. But am working on my own genealogy and am always searching for photos connected to my own family.
