Stark County MAURER from Switzerland, SHISLER
I am trying to verify if my ancestor from Bethlehem Township, Stark County, is related to the Bethlehem Township, Stark County family mentioned on page 968 of,
History of Stark County : with an outline sketch of Ohio. Chicago: Baskin & Battey, 1881.
In the "Biographical Sketch" of Jasper P. SHISLER,
Jasper P. SHISLER of Justus, Bethlehem Township, Stark County, "was married Sept. 14 1865, to Annie MAURER, who was born in the Canton [State] of Argau, Switzerland, daughter of Jacob and Annie (Hiselman) MAURER, who came to this country in 1853, locating in Bethlehem Tp.
This page goes on to say that Jacob and Annie MAURER's eldest son, Samuel MAURER, was killed at Gettysburg.
I am trying to verify if there is a connection with my Great-Great-Grandfather Jacob MAURER, first wife Annie (1st 3 children b. New Jersey), second wife Sophia (Surname believed to be MENTZ), of Bethlehem Township, Stark County.
Jacob MAURER, b. abt. 1831 in Switzerland, is recorded in the 1880 Census in Bethlehem Township, Stark County, as:
