This a copy of a message that I posted with the MONEY family forum.
I just wanted to pass along some info that might be helpful to those of you who are descendants of ADAM MONEY d. 1803 Salem, New Jersey. This info comes as a result of DNA tests.
My g-grandfather was Louis Gunter b. 1853 Hall County, Georgia. Even though his surname was Gunter there was always a rumor in my family that Louis wasn't really a Gunter but was a result of an affair that his mother had with her neighbor Hugh C. Mooney b. 1812 York Co. S.C. d. 1890 Hall Co. Georgia. Hugh was the grandson of John Mooney/Mauney b. 1761 Lincoln Co. N.C. son of Hans Jacob Mauney b. Alsace region France.
To make a long story a little shorter, my dad had a DNA test done with FamilyTree DNA to find out what Gunter line he descended from and shock!! he didn't match any of them butmatched the DNA from a gentleman named Charles Money (deceased) whose ancestry was grandfather Michael Money->Jacob Money->Adam Money->.
In the meantime we had a descendant of Hugh Mooney's brother DNA tested to find out about the Mooney line and it just came back matching perfectly. So my fathermatched the Adam Money line that went to New Jersey and the Hans Jacob Mauney line that sailed into Pennsylvania in the early 1700's. Hans Jacob had a son Adam whom I can find no info on, except that he was born around the early 1720's. Somewhere the line came from the same group of people which might give some of the Money researchers another line to look into.
Hope this info helps someone.
Sincerely,
Teresa
