Should I take it that because I know my GGGGgrandfather's name was Jacob G. Mauney (Mooney) and John Peter had a son named Jacob G. that they are one in the same. I was hoping to find the two of them possible living near each other in the 1850 census to prove that they were father/son.

Have you talked to any fellow John Peter researchers in preparation for your book that might have found John Peter in the 1850 NC census and possibly in the 1840 census with a son in the proper age group?
