I found the will of John Mauldin whose will was written 3 Dec 1831 and probated 5 Mar 1832 in Anderson County, South Carolina.
This is what it mentions and the reference:
John Mauldin. Wife: not named. Sons: Godfrey Mauldin, Joab Mauldin, Taliaferro Mauldin, James Mauldin. Daughters: Sarah Hughes, Mary Mauldin, Elizabeth Mauldin, Frances Mauldin. Exors: Joab Mauldin, Taliaferro Maulldin. Wits: John Siddall, Samuel Mauldin, R.H. Briggs. Date: 3 Dec. 1831. Probate: 5 March 1832. Bk. A p. 462, Roll 410. Anderson Co, SC.
This was found on www.usgenweb.com. Select the state of South Carolina and Anderson County. On the right of the screen, scroll down to a People section. Select wills, probate records, ect. Select Abstracts 1789-1839. Scroll down until you see John Mauldin. This sight has a great deal of information and you may be able to confirm the John Mauldin's wife there. From the above, there is not an Absalom nor an Able listed as a son of John Mauldin.
